Showcasing popular and established musical artistes from all over the world, as well as emerging talent in the world of music, Coachella is not for nothing the most famous music festival ever! It’s also the largest and most profitable music festivals across the globe, featuring several stages continuously hosting live music including pop, rock, hip hop, indie, and electronic dance music. Across the grounds, large-scale art installations and sculptures enthral audiences too, and there’s also food from USA’s famed restaurants to dig into.
Fun fact: In 2017, the two-weekend total went up to a staggering 2.5 lakh! This year, the grand fest is slated to take place from April 14th to 16th and April 21st to 23rd, with the capacity to host 1.25 lakh enthusiasts. The line-up for the mega festival has been announced, and while we’re excited to see names like Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny and K-pop band BLACKPINK, the first ever Latin and Korean acts, respectively, to headline the fest, our desi boys have our heart! Yes, you read that right.
Making his Coachella debut in 2023 is Indian sensation Diljit Dosanjh, and we can’t keep calm! After all, the Proper Patola singer will make history as an Indian and Punjabi artist to perform at the festival, a Sauda Khara Khara for fans worldwide. Another fan favourite to make his debut is Pakistani singer Ali Sethi, who became a global sensation with Pasoori. Apart from this, Scottish DJ and singer-songwriter Calvin Harris and Chinese superstar Jackson Wang will be making their comeback at Coachella. Frank Ocean will also be headlining, with other stars in the line-up including Björk, The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Rae Sremmurd, Rosalía, Weyes Blood, Wet Leg, Jai Paul and many more.
Formally known as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the annual do was co-founded in 1999 by music promoters Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen. Organised by entertainment group Goldenvoice, the event is held in California, in Colorado Desert’s Coachella Valley, at the Empire Polo Club. This year’s General Admission passes start from $499 for the first tier, and go up to $549 and $599 for the second and third tier. VIP tickets are priced at $1,069 and $1,269 for tier one and two, respectively. If you’re planning to attend, now’s the time to get booking!
