ESSEX — The 46th season of Essex Winter Series (EWS) begins in 2023 with its first concert on Sunday, Jan. 22, featuring the New Haven Symphony Orchestra conducted by Donato Cabrera and with marimba soloist Aya Kaminaguchi. More than 50 musicians will fill the stage at Valley Regional High School to perform selections from Antonín Dvorák, Emmanuel Séjourné, Anna Clyne and Richard Strauss.
That performance will be followed by Jeff Barnhart and His Hot Jazz Collective on Sunday, Feb. 26, which brings back fan favorites like Vince Giordano and Jim Fryer.
Gaining press worldwide, Project: Music Heals Us String Trio will present the third concert, on Sunday, March 12, with pianist Mihae Lee joining this group of Andre Janss (cello), Stephanie Zyzak (violin), and Brian Hong (violin and viola).
The season will close with the Grammy Award-winning choral group, Chanticleer – often referred to as an “orchestra of voices” – returning to the stage on Sunday, April 23.
