• At the time she performed at Newport, she had a new album out: Hot Loose Wire.

• She was described in publicity as a “hardworking young folksinger,” trained at Berklee College of Music, winner of the 2009 Mountain Stage New Song Contest, and someone who had opened for singers like Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin.

🗓 Festival in 2010

• Newport Folk Festival 2010 took place July 30-August 1 in Newport, Rhode Island.

• The Friday night (July 30) kickoff was held at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the rest of the festival at Fort Adams State Park.

• The festival lineup was quite broad, mixing established folk/roots performers and newer or emerging artists. Liz Longley was among those up-and-comers
