Foo Fighters, Lumineers and Paramore to headline Boston Calling Music Festival this spring

Foo Fighters fans have reason to rejoice. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers are among the three headlining acts on Boston Calling‘s 2023 bill, set for May 26-28 at the Harvard Athletic Complex.

Frontman Dave Grohl and his bandmates canceled last year’s festival performance following drummer Taylor Hawkin’s untimely death in Bogota, Colombia. As of publishing, the Foo Fighters’ upcoming performance at Boston Calling will be the band’s first showing at a major festival this year.

The now mammoth, rock-heavy fest’s Saturday and Sunday evening headliners are The Lumineers and Paramore. They’ll join more than 50 acts in Allston over Memorial Day weekend including Queens of the Stone Age, the always wacky-on-stage Flaming Lips, the art-punk trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Alanis Morissette, who hasn’t played Boston since 2012.

Psych-rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is coming back to the fields after getting rained out in last year’s flash thunder and lightning storm. The National, which collaborated on the creation of Boston Calling, will also be returning.

Some of the many Boston Calling first-timers include Joy Oladorkun, The Linda Lindas, Actor Observer, 070 Shake and the femme queer punk band Sorry Mom.

Keeping in line with last year, 20 groups with local connections will also take Boston Calling’s fourth stage, including Alisa Amador, Mint Green, Ali McGuirk, Brandie Blaze and Little Fuss.
