Back in January it was announced that Jai Paul would play his first ever live show at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this spring. Now, just five days out from the set, the enigmatic musician has shared some pre-gig jitters with fans via a note on Reddit.
“Yoo it’s Jai”, he began, “this weekend I’m gonna be playing my first ever live show and I’m not gonna lie I am absolutely shitting it 😆”. He then goes on to “acknowledge the real heads” and lets them know “how much I appreciate you lot sticking it out with me for all this time”.
“Hopefully it’s all gonna be worth it”, he added in a hopeful tone.
The message will doubtless be important to Jai Paul fans. The musician is famously private and this note is a rare intervention into the public sphere and his first actual acknowledgement of the set bar the line-up announcement.
Joining Jai Paul at the festival are headliners Bad Bunny, Blackpink and Frank Ocean (there’s still time for an album announcement!) Also performing across both April 14-16 and 21-23 weekends are Rosalía, Björk, Boygenius, Charli XCX, Kaytranada, Kali Uchis, Flo Milli, plus an Idris Elba DJ set.
For those not lucky enough to nab tickets, Coachella have announced that they will be live streaming every stage across both weekends here on its YouTube channel.
