The Boomtown Film and Music Festival will kick off on Friday, May 12 at 5 p.m. The annual event is a celebration of movies and music in Southeast Texas showcasing two days of independent films, live music performances, special guest speakers and more.

The two-day event will include venue screenings at the historic Jefferson Theatre, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, the Texas Energy Museum, and Jazz & Jokes night club, as well as an outdoor stage.

This year’s meet and greet will be held at Jass and Jokes Club on Orleans in Beaumont with live music from Ethan Osborne.

The Facebook post lists the festival’s musical lineup schedule.

A majority of the independent films being filmed at the year’s screening were made in Texas, the event’s Facebook page states.

In addition, to the film screenings, a five-panel discussion table reading is part of the event lineup with “industry leaders that have worked on such titles as “Stranger Things”, “Machete” and “True Detective,” the post added. Topics will include screenwriting, fight choreography, women in film; plus a staged reading of this year’s 1st-place-winning screenplay.

The 2023 Boomtown Film and Musical Festival schedule will screen at the Jefferson Theatre, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, and the Texas Energy Museum. In addition, Saturday’s panel of staged readings will be hosted at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas.

Tickets to the event are available for purchase online. For additional information, visit the Boomtown Film and Music Festival event Facebook page.
