S Club are releasing their first single in 20 years in tribute to late bandmate Paul Cattermole.
I can reveal they will thrill fans by releasing new song These Are The Days this week, after being left devastated when Paul died suddenly of heart issues aged 46 in April.
The music video will show his bandmates Rachel Stevens, Jo O’Meara, Bradley McIntosh, Jon Lee and Tina Barrett emotionally reminiscing about Paul with a series of photos and clips.
A source said: “It didn’t look like S Club were ever going to make music again but Paul’s tragic passing has brought them closer than ever. They have bonded in their grief.
“The single has been written by the same team who were behind the majority of their No1s.
“It is a beautiful slice of nostalgia and fans will instantly recognise it as S Club.
“It sounds like a classic which will slot right in with their old tunes.
“It is about looking back at what an amazing man Paul was and the video was extremely emotional for them all.
“It celebrates his life and the amazing career S Club have had.”
They have signed a global partnership with Universal Music UK to put out the song, which will be released on Wednesday.
The group are now a five-piece after Hannah Spearritt’s decision to leave weeks after Paul’s death.
They announced their 25th anniversary reunion in The Sun in February and revealed they would be heading out on a nationwide tour.
That has now almost sold out and will go ahead in October under the new title The Good Times Tour — named after one of the tracks on which Paul had lead vocals.
The band were together from 1998 to 2003, selling more than ten million albums, with all 11 of their singles going Top Five.
Across their four studio albums they had four No1 singles with Bring It All Back, Never Had A Dream Come True, Don’t Stop Movin’ and Have You Ever.
Following Paul’s death, Hannah — who dated him from 2001 to 2006 — said: “It’s still so raw and I have these moments where I don’t quite believe that it’s real.
“I still can’t believe I will never see him again.
“It’s all the more tragic because he was looking forward to the tour the most out of all of us.
“He just wanted to have fun and enjoy it.”
S Club, it’s good to have you back.
Tour tears of joy for Harry
HARRY Styles cried tears of joy at the final show of his 169-date global Love On Tour in Italy.
The As It Was singer told the crowd: “Thank you for . . . thank you for . . . He’s gone!
“I was doing so well. Thank you for loving me for the way that you have.”
He added: “You’ve not only changed my life, you have made me the happiest.
“There’s lots of emotions tonight, it’s been a long time and I just wanna thank you very seriously for what this has been to me.
“You’ve changed my life.
“The last two years of this tour has been the greatest experience I could ever ask for.
“It has been an honour playing for the most wonderful, emotionally generous group of people, the future that I see standing before me.”
James Corden was among his celeb pals at the show.
And Harry even learned Italian to thank the fans in the city Reggio Emilia.
At the start of the show, he said in the local language: “I’m really happy to be finishing the tour in a country that is close to my heart.”
SUEDE aren’t slowing down after 30 years in music, with Brett Anderson already writing their next record.
In the new issue of Mojo magazine, the frontman said: “Doing retro stuff is fine if you’re doing current stuff, and you really can learn a lot when you look at yourself in the past.”
He said he’s doing new music “where no one can hear me”.
They have also released a 30th anniversary edition of their No1 self-titled debut.
STORMZY’S PARTY OVER
STORMZY jetted into Ibiza for early birthday celebrations ahead of his 30th on Wednesday.
He hooked up with DJ Calvin Harris but he proved to be older than his years, as he admitted he was wasted by 6.30pm and had to order some chips and mac and cheese to sober up – then fancied an early night.
But the Vossi Bop rapper continued to do shots and order more booze for himself and his mates.
Despite being a multi-millionaire, he tried to blag some freebies.
Joking with his mates on an Instagram Live, he added: “How much is the bill, fam? I might run off.”
He then told the waiter: “We’ve had five bottles of tequila. I can’t pay for all of this s**t. Give me a discount, man. It’s f***ing expensive.”
Luckily for him, he managed to get two of the bottles knocked off the bill.
That will have given him a healthy saving, given bottles of tequila on the White Isle range from £470 to £820.
And I doubt he was having the cheap stuff.
The rapper was in good spirits from day-club O Beach Ibiza, but confessed: “I’m going to be mad honest yeah . . . I’m done man.”
When someone suggested he go to nightclub Amnesia later on the star, who released single The Weekend with Raye on Wednesday, said: “After this I’m going to bed, I’m a bit of an old man.”
Perhaps party island Ibiza wasn’t the perfect place to celebrate after all.
D-LIGHT FOR FAN MIMI
ONE Direction superfan Mimi Webb got to hang out with Niall Horan on the eve of her 23rd birthday.
They were both on the line-up for Lollapalooza festival in Paris and posed for this snap backstage.
Mimi marked her birthday yesterday with a performance at Latitude festival in Suffolk and insisted beforehand that she didn’t want to mention it on stage.
After a pal suggested the crowd would need to sing happy birthday to her, she said: “I would be so embarrassed. I always do it for the band but I’ve never had it for myself.
“Imagine if I went, ‘Guys, can you all sing happy birthday to me right now? One, two, three . . . ’ Everyone would be like, ‘No’.”
The real celebrations begin today, as the Freezing singer is jetting on holiday to Saint-Tropez in the South of France.
GEM’S KNOT SURE
GEMMA Collins looked like she had fashioned a dress out of my bathroom loofah when she headed out like this.
The reality star wore the puffy outfit on a night out in London on Friday and I can only assume she had been inspired by seeing the Barbie movie the night before.
She confused fans the following day by posting a snap on Instagram of herself with her businessman fiancé Rami Hawash with the caption: “WEDDING.”
That was odd as last week she said she wanted to wait until she was 50 to tie the knot.
Even so, plenty of people were quick to weigh in to the comment section to congratulate her.
Make your mind up, GC.
SELENA RED-DY FOR FUN
SELENA Gomez sizzled in this strapless red dress as she marked her 31st birthday.
The Calm Down singer looked incredible in this snap shared on Instagram which was liked by more than seven million people within eight hours of it being posted.
She was joined at the bash in the US on Friday by A-list pals including Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton.
The LA socialite commented on Selena’s photo: “Happy birthday beautiful! So much fun celebrating with you last night!”
Selena kept the party going the following day with a more intimate Barbie-themed bash, which involved a screening of the movie and a champagne dinner.
Her best mate Taylor Swift is believed to have missed the celebrations, as she had back-to-back shows in Seattle on Saturday and Sunday.
Given Tay will still be on tour on Selena’s birthday next year, when she will be performing in Germany, it might be a few years before the Bad Blood singer can raise a toast for her.
